Our awesome swim coach and former Director Karen Cravotta, is a licensed PT and has been running the OMM Swim program since she helped start the local program in 2010. We do a safety song every class before entering the pool. Life vests and floating noodles are available. Life guards are always on duty. We have 3 coaches and divide the class up with each coach. We practice different swimming strokes, walking in the water, floating, kicking and blowing bubbles or holding our breath but it all is based around the individual athlete’s comfort and ability level so it’s very adaptive in the approach for everyone. We have a lot of fun! At the end of each class, those who want can wade or walk over to the pool’s playset and enjoy some free play before going home. Every athlete gets an award and keepsake team and individual photo. Every buddy and athlete are invited to the end of the year Celebration of Miracles banquet in November.
Due to a shortage of volunteer buddies we are currently requiring each swimmer to have a helper (family member or responsible friend 14 or over) attend and get into the water with each swimmer . Both athletes and volunteer buddies will need to register, but family members getting into the water with their own child will not need to register. We will get working to get volunteers and always appreciate your help with volunteer recruitment.
24 total athletes allowed per session. Those added to the waitlist while the swim session is open who DID NOT GET INTO THE WAITLISTED SESSION will have early access to the next season for a limited time.
$25 cost per athlete (need based scholarships available – click HERE for application)
